| Resumen, etc. | La construcción del ferrocarril Arica - La Paz fue resultado del régimen liberal, donde se estableció el Tratado de 1904, con el cual se definió un canje territorial con la construcción de la línea férrea, en torno al cual giraba una serie de discusiones e incluso incertidumbres por algunos columnistas y políticos bolivianos de la época. Estas diversas opiniones no obstaculizaron la consolidación y el avance respectivo del ferrocarril. El gobierno chileno, una vez habiendo definido con el sindicato sobre las propuestas y contratos, instruyó proceder con la realización del trabajo. Esta construcción ferroviaria, de 338 kilómetros, fue posible con la contribución de tres factores importantes: ingeniería, tecnología y fuerza laboral. La obra tuvo un costo total de casi tres millones de libras esterlinas (£) y, en bolivianos, más de treinta millones, lo que equivalía a más de dos años de ingresos totales anuales del Estado boliviano en la época. Concluida la obra, se procedió a la inauguración con la presencia de autoridades políticas, sindicatos y público en general, quienes expresaron mensajes alentadores al país en nombre del gobierno y a los representantes del ferrocarril en Arica.<br/> |

| Resumen, etc. | The construction of the Arica - La Paz railway was a result of the liberal regime, where the Treaty of 1904, in which a territorial exchange with the construction of the railway line was established defined; around which she revolved a series of discussions and even some columnists and uncertainties Bolivian politicians of the time. These different views did not hinder the consolidation and advancement of the respective rail, the Chilean government, once having defined, with the union on proposals and contracts, instructed to proceed with the completion of work.
